Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample. Philippians 3:17
Our daughter Mikayla has made various dresses, and in so doing, has followed a pattern each time. Our Lord Jesus Christ has laid down an outline of how the Christian life should look. Are we clearly following the pattern of our Savior for others to see? We are called to be an “E”xample of the believer. Other believers need a guide that is true to biblical practices. There is an opportunity to stand out in stark contrast to the evil digression of evil worldly norms in our society and churches today by displaying practical Christian living that runs contrary while setting up a standard of moral purity and moral discretion! Let us stand in the gap and stand up to model Christlikeness.
For instance, “saying whatever comes to our minds” is not a mark of spirituality and should not be lauded as acceptable Christian behavior. “He who bridles his tongue” has control of every other part of his life as well, for out of the heart the mouth speaks (James 3:2; Matt. 12:34). The words of our mouths is a clear indicator of our hearts. Are we keeping our hearts with all diligence (Proverbs 4:23-27)? Out of our innerman comes every facet of our lives. What are you meditating on throughout your days (Psalm 19:14)?
. . . be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. 1 Timothy 4:12
