The Good News of Jesus Christ is only "good" if Christ is risen!
“And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:14
So, the gospel that we preach must include the resurrection of the Lord Jesus as well as the death of our Savior (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Our hope rests in a living Lord, and the fact that as He lives, so we will live eternally with Him! Our life is hid with God in Christ (Colossians 3:1-4). The spiritual life that we have is contingent upon the fact of the bodily resurrection of Jesus. If Christ died the death of any other man and remained dead, we are still in our sins and of all men most miserable (1 Corinthians 3:17, 19), yet to the contrary, the resurrection of Christ sets Him apart from all other men and provides a perfect salvation (Acts 4:10-12)!
Christ’s coming to life from the dead, proved that He was sinless, and had died for our sins. Thus, Jesus having died for our sins that resulted in His death, and now having taken up His life from the grave, we are confident that the result of sin, namely death, has been defeated!! The payment for our sin was declared to be fully transacted by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. God’s wrath upon sin was fully satisfied by Christ’s death, and eternal life is offered as a gift through the life of the Son of God (Romans 1:1-4, 16)! “Death is swallowed up in victory” - “Thanks be to God which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:54-57).
“And when I saw [Jesus Christ], I fell at his feet as
dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto
me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: 18 I am he that
liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for
evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of
death.” Revelation 1:17–18
