My childhood is full of memories of a Dad who truly cared for me. His care extended to disciplining me as well as most often playing some sport with me. Through each experience I knew that my Dad loved me and desired the very best for me. There was an implicit trust in His warnings, directives, and guidance. If I needed him, I fully expected him to be there for me.
Even more so and to a greater degree, children are precious in the sight of the Lord. Jesus invited the little children to come unto him without any reservations, hesitations, or exclusions. Christ did not see children as a nuisance or annoyance. He regarded them as exemplary, and in many regards superior to adults in character. Their humility was commended by Him, along with the faith of the little ones that surrounded Him (Matthew 18:1-4; 19:13-14).
It is not those who think of themselves as great and worthy of acceptance that God recognizes, but those that will come to bow before the greatness of Christ and have Him as their ultimate pursuit by faith (Philippians 3:7-10).
How are we displaying faith in the Lord Christ? Do we come to Him with implicit trust? Do we seek Him with hearts expecting that He knows and does what’s best on our behalf? How often do we go to Christ, for He is always willing to receive us if we will approach unto Him?
~ May we have a child-like trust in Christ ~
