All to Him We Owe

I live with you in the real world and present times of economic stress and times of distress. Although that is the case, let me broach the ever-popular topic of giving. The question arises as to whether we can trust God in times of financial dearth as well as in times when there is plenty in our bank accounts (Phil. 4:11)? Does God receive from our hand only when we have an abundance of money, or do we also give out of times of poverty (2 Cor. 8:2)? How did the Apostle Paul give, those of the churches of his day, and the widow in Jesus’ day? God has given to each of us what we have whether great amounts or small amounts, and He desires that we responsibly manage those funds for His glory. Giving to the Lord’s work through the church is a part of that management responsibility.

How would our God have each of us to give?
    1. Regularly
1 Corinthians 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store . . .

    2. Proportionately
1 Corinthians 16:2 . . . lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

     3. Generously
2 Corinthians 9:6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

     4. Purposefully
2 Corinthians 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give . . .

     5. Willingly
  2 Corinthians 9:7 . . .  so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity . . .

     6. Cheerfully
  2 Corinthians 9:7 . . . God loveth a cheerful giver.

     7. Trustingly
2 Corinthians 9:8  And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
