Are you a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ? How is it that you are following after Him? Does He have your ear – are you listening to Him?
We now come to the first “I” in DISCIPLE. As disciples and as ones who are discipling others along the path of life, we must allow God’s Spirit to Introduce us to new truths. That means each of us being instructed from His Word with a becoming adept at Hearing the Words of Christ, Meditating on those details in each line & precept, and Committing to practice the thoughts His Word has communicated. There is a joy and freedom in searching the Scriptures, and finding out more about the ways Christ thinks and acts. “More about Jesus would I learn, more of His holy will discern; Spirit of God my teacher be, showing the things of Christ to me” is our desire expressed in the precious hymn of the faith.
The depths of God’s wisdom are unsearchable and the love of Christ is beyond measure (Romans 11:33; Ephesians 3:19). Therein lies the heart of a true student of Christ, an insatiable hunger and thirst to continually increase in the knowledge of our God and Savior (Colossians 1:10; 2 Peter 3:18). We will never arrive, but ever press on to new heights as we seek the fulness of Christ (Ephesians 4:13).
