The church in its local form and functioning, on Sundays and Wednesdays, takes the people of God coming together and apart from their everyday activities both willingly and regularly for the sake of riveting our attention on the Lord through God-honoring songs (Colossians 3:16), feeding on HIs Word both through the preaching and teaching ministries (Ephesians 4:11-13), interceding for other believers and unbelievers through prayers and praise (1 Timothy 2:1, 3-4, 8), interacting with those gathered for the strengthening of our faith (Titus 2:2-8), sharing of our time and energies with the abilities God has granted along with our monies He has supplied to meet the needs of those with whom we are connected (1 Peter 4:8-11; 1 Timothy 6:17-18). It is therefore, incumbent upon each believer to dedicate themselves to the workings of the church with eternities values in view!
1 Corinthians 16:15 I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,)
Consider the following “one another” passages that naturally occur by rubbing shoulders with each other at appointed weekly times:
Hebrews 10:24–25 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
Galatians 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
God would have you come together as a part of His church in order to receive a blessing and to extend a blessing to others! You are important to God and His church family!!
