Our Greatest Need

What is our greatest need as a part of this world? How can that need be best met in this world today? Where would we find the solution to the problems we face in our lives?

The options available to us, or at least, offered to us are varied. The possibilities range from expanding our minds to focusing our minds upon some religious system of thought. The world is forever seeking an answer to living better and longer. The prevailing thought of the world is that man has some inherent goodness, that if only given the opportunity would arise from within and become an overcoming force or spirit to oppose and change the evil we find so prevalent around us. So just maybe one of the following would suffice to turn the tables on the corruption and degradation we are facing from the massive amount of extortion to the astronomically increasing violence occurring today.

EDUCATION - The mantra is simply stated as “if we just knew more we would make better decisions”. There needs to be a correction of the perceptions of history and current acceptable conduct.
INNOVATION - If peoples lives were better off socially, economically, etc. Making things more convenient and accessible will make for a social revolution that will equal to bringing an end to social injustice. If only we could better connect people and ideas then we could solve many issues we face.
MEDITATION OR VISUALIZATION - We need a better self-perception so we think better of ourselves. Then we could actualize more clearly what we could be and do. Highest thoughts = Highest good. Another side to this coin would be a recognition of a higher power that engenders a desire to appease this one with religious fervor. A flavor of such a desire says that gain equals godliness or success equals attainment. If you have fame and fortune then you have arrived.
REGULATION - Those who cannot or will not govern themselves must be governed by another. The more rules and restrictions that are placed upon us in society, the better. This will make for a peace, order, and prosperity. Someone else can make wise decisions for the populace.

The difficulty with relying on the above formulas would be the faulty premise of inherent goodness when the Bible declares that we are all sinful (Romans 3:23). The corruption and rebellion against God of our very natures permeates each mind, heart, motives, words, actions and desires of every individual. The law of God applies to one and all without partiality, and exposes each of our evil and hardened hearts. There is no way of hiding it, making excuses for it, or in some way overriding it with some manmade scheme. God alone through the person of Jesus Christ has provided the perfect solution to the deepest and most real need of the world. So the change and corrective measure that must be taken is the admit to God’s estimation of our sin, agree with God’s solution for our sin, and come to accept Christ’s work for our sin upon the cross and conquering life over sin so that we receive forgiveness, cleansing and acceptance from God (Romans 10:9-10). God will fill the hole in our lives and transform us. Christ alone is sufficient to meet the need as the final solution!
