An Heritage From the Lord

We are not far removed from a wonderful week of Vacation Bible School! Interacting with the children was both exhausting because of their boundless energy of which I am glad I only had to match for a short time, and exhilarating because they can soak up so much Bible and have some really good inquiries and insights as well. Their curiosity is unmatched along with a willingness to accept the truth of God’s Word readily! It is no wonder that the Lord Jesus welcomed little children to come unto Him while saying that to enter the Kingdom of Heaven one must become like them and be converted (Matthew 19:14; 18:3).

Therefore, it is a worthwhile endeavor to pour ourselves into the little ones. May God raise up a host of children that would give themselves to Christ and His service. So, on the heels of VBS we are getting ready to start Explorers Club. Pray! Pray! And Pray some more for the children! Also, pray for the church workers, and please don’t forget the parents (the home is vital). The imparting of the truth of God’s love and the need of loving God wholeheartedly as taught at church can be greatly enhanced through bringing the children up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord in the home (1 John 4:11; Ephesians 6:4).

Interestingly, on the first night of VBS, I met a family who had a boy by the name of Josiah. I commented on what an excellent Bible name had been given to him. Then, I proceeded to ask if they knew the biblical account of Josiah coming to reign as King when he was only 8 years old (2 Kings 22:1-2). Next, I made the point of encouraging this young man to follow and serve the Lord in his youth. God is interested in using our youth today, and many of them are interested in being used of God. May God cultivate a generation whose hearts are captivated by knowing Him and serving Him (Psalm 119:1-5).

Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them; Ecclesiastes 12:1
