Having become DISCIPLES of the Lord Jesus by faith in the gospel, may it be that our lives are consistent with that gospel we have confessed and now profess to those around us. We need a “L”ifestyle of Evangelism. This means that telling the message of Jesus becomes a part of our lives, and a natural part of them. It should not be forced, contrived, or seen as a mere obligation to witness of the salvation that Jesus has secured upon the cross and by His resurrection. As we live in this physical realm, we should be enamored and enthralled with the spiritual realm to the extent of pointing people to Christ by speaking a word for Him (Acts 1:8)! “For Him”, because ultimately, it is out of great love and sacrifice that He came to reclaim us for Himself. So, we do not witness for our sake or other people’s sake, but for the sake of His name!
We must prayerfully and dependently make our way through each day while allowing the presence of Christ by His Spirit to embolden us and give us the words to say. It will take having our eyes open to the people that surround us, our ears open to their expressions of need that present open doors for spiritual conversations, and our mouths ready with a message of hope (1 Peter 3:15)! Accompanying all of this, will, of necessity, be a mind concentrated upon Christ, and a heart full of His compassion. People are not naturally lovely.
Therefore, we share the love of Christ that has been shed abroad in our hearts (Romans 5:3). It is not natural for us to love others. As we have received grace through the gospel, so we share in grace and out of the grace found in Jesus.
