As we enter 2025, wouldn’t we all like to be successful in our service for our God, coming to know our Christ in a fuller way, facing life with a greater sense of peace and joy, and conquering the many vices and temptations that plague us? Of course, each of us would desire such an existence as children of the living God! Are all those desires and more even possible??
Yes, a resounding yes, but the accomplishment of this type of spiritual success comes with one caveat. Reading the Word of God, the Bible (involving study, memory work, etc.) is of utmost necessity (1 Timothy 4:13). Therefore, it will not come easily but require us to make a plan and work our plan to get into the Word, and thus, allow the Word to get into our hearts and lives (John 15:7-11). Let Psalm 119:97 that says, “O how love I thy law! It is my meditation all the day”, become our heart’s cry.
Our God has graciously given us all that we could ever need for “life and godliness” through the knowledge of Christ found in the Holy Scriptures (2 Peter 1:3-4). Those same Scriptures safeguard us against the devil’s attacks and temptations (Ephesians 6:11, 17) as we put each piece of spiritual armor on with much prayer! The Word of God is an essential component to complete our growth in grace (1 Peter 2:2).
So, what part will the Bible play in our preparation for the New Year? Priority number 1. . . 2 . . . 3 . . . 4 . . .??
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Joshua 1:8
