The Power of God is ...
Displayed in the creation of all things by His very word. God in His might spoke the word and all things came into existence. Consider Psalm 33:6, 9 "By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; And all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. "For he spake, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast" , or Psalm 148:5 detailing the creative acts of God when it says, "Let them praise the name of the Lord: For he commanded, and they were created." Then, He continues to uphold all things by the word of His power. Isaiah puts it this way, "Lift up your eyes on high, And behold who hath created these things, That bringeth out their host by number: He calleth them all by names By the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; Not one faileth" (Isaiah 40:26).
Revealed in the control He wields over the nations. There is no power on earth, but that is allowed by God to operate (Romans 13:1). God holds the very heart of the highest rulers of the nations in His hand and directs the affairs as He deems best for His ultimate purposes (Proverbs 21:1). Daniel says of his God's might, "... He removeth kings, and setteth up kings.." (Daniel 2:21). The strength of God over the nations is emphasized by contrasting His greatness and the nations smallness in Isaiah 40 when referring to the nations as simply a "drop of the bucket" in His sight (Isaiah 40:15).
Intimated through redemption's plan by way of His only Son. Ephesians 1:6-7 highlights God's orchestration of the Son's payment for sin as it exclaims, "To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace." The cross as the instrument of death and seeming weakness became the source of ultimate victory as Christ triumphed over Satan's desire to hold mankind captive. Paul puts it this way, "And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it [His cross]" (Colossians 2:15). His death in our place was the only acceptable sacrifice to result in life for all who will claim Christ as their own by faith. Truly, "we preach Christ crucified... unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God..." (1 Corinthians 1:23-24).
. . . Incomparable, Indescribable and Inexhaustible.
