When you get overloaded with work, school or any number of household chores; what is your natural tendency? Some of us shut down completely or try to run away from our duties and hide. Others of us go headlong into the task at hand to the expense of everything and everyone else. Becoming overwhelmed should drive us to the Lord to find refuge and strength, wisdom and help, peace and safety. The load will become lighter as we lean on the Lord and look to Him in the Word. Don’t put your relationship with God on hold while you try in your own strength and wisdom to work, and do the heavy lifting. We are only capable with Christ - John 15:5 "I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” He is our strength - Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” He is our wisdom - 1 Corinthians 1:30 "But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption.”
By Christ we have also gained a family - the church - that is there to share the load. Bearing each others burdens is a privilege that we should not deprive others of fulfilling - Galatians 6:2 "Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.” Don’t abandon the fellowship of believers when the going gets tough, but rather, band together and pray together. You are not alone in feeling the weight of life’s challenges. None of us are immune to becoming heavy-hearted, so let’s not act independently of each other, but shoulder each others troubles and shoulder to shoulder march forward for Christ.
“What a fellowship, what a joy divine, leaning on the Everlasting arms. I have blessed peace with my Lord so near, leaning on the everlasting arms.”
"The eternal God is thy refuge, And underneath are the everlasting arms . . .” Deuteronomy 33:27a
