O That It Were Today

With the firm belief that the Lord’s return is imminent (could happen at any moment), it ought to spur us on to Labor, Look and Long for the Master!

In John 9:4 Jesus stated the mentality that we must have ingrained in our hearts and minds while we await the close of this age as He said, I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day:the night cometh, when no man can work.

Furthermore, in Titus 2:13 the Apostle Paul directs our gaze upward, for it is from heaven that we await our Savior’s return while "Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ."

Then, what a day it will be when our bodies are changed (in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye) to be made like our Lord’s glorious body, and with new eyes we are able to behold the face of our Savior. Romans 8:22–23 expresses our deep desire for that day of our redemption which is drawing ever closer when it says, "For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. 23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body."

Many of our hymns focus upon the coming of our Savior, and spur us on in our Laboring, Looking and Longing for that glorious day! So let us “labor for Master from the dawn ‘til setting sun, let us talk of all His wondrous love and care” (When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder). Also, “Listen for the trumpet, Jesus is coming, listen for the trumpet, look to the skies, no more sorrow, no more night, only God’s eternal light, Jesus is coming again” (Listen For the Trumpet). “What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see, when I look upon His face, the One who saved me by His grace” (What a Day, Glorious Day That Will Be), or “Face to face with Christ, my Savior, face to face what will it be? When with rapture I behold Him, Jesus Christ who died for me” (Face to Face).

Jesus is coming again!!
