Keep Praying Part 3

Psalm 63:1
O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: My soul thirsteth for thee . . .

Desperate times can bring out cries of desparation. To whom will we turn? Hezekiah came to a place where there was nowhere else to turn for help, but to the “Lord of hosts” in prayer so that He might perform the miraculous. When our strength is no match for the enemy and our wisdom will not avail, it is then that we find a God whose power and might is all-sufficient and wisdom is incomparable. Our precious Lord delights to do the impossible so that He alone receives all the glory and praise!

And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up unto the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD. Isaiah 37:14
It is our blessed privilege to lay out our detailed appeal to the Lord for assistance. The eyes of the Lord see, and His ears are attentive to our cries (Psalm 11:4; 130:2).

And Hezekiah prayed unto the LORD, saying, 16 O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, that dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: thou hast made heaven and earth. 17 Incline thine ear, O LORD, and hear; open thine eyes, O LORD, and see: and hear all the words of Sennacherib, which hath sent to reproach the living God. 18 Of a truth, LORD, the kings of Assyria have laid waste all the nations, and their countries, 19 And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them. 20 Now therefore, O LORD our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD, even thou only. Isaiah 37:15-20
By prayer we enter into the fray that involves much more than flesh and blood or worldly means of warfare. The armies of Heaven are at the full disposal of our God, so that they that are with us are far greater than those that stand against us (2 Kings 6:16-17)!

Our God is always ready and waiting for us to approach Him with the things that overwhelm our souls.
