The Bible asserts that it is "the Word of God" (2 Cor. 4:2), "the Word of the Lord" (1 Thess. 1:8), "the Word of Christ" (Col. 3:16), "the Word of Life" (Phil. 2:16), "the Word of Truth" (2 Tim. 2:15), "the faithful Word" (Titus 1:9), and the "Scripture" (2 Tim. 3:16).
If God went through such enormous pains to communicate with us by having His very Words recorded and preserved for us in the Bible, don't you think we ought to take the time to read and do everything we possibly can to fully understand what He has clearly stat-ed? What a shame it would be to miss out on knowing God in Christ as the Lord because we were either to preoccupied with the world, disinterested in that which is to come hereafter, or maybe just procrastinating because it would take too much time or effort to get to know Him. Whatever the reason or excuse, it still boils down to being the ultimate loss on our part if we neglect this precious commodity - the Bible.
I mean, where else can you find a book that offers life, not to mention being something that is living (it works and will be at work in those that come believing as it is read - Hebrews 4:12; 1 Thess. 2:13). Then we live in a day and age where the propagating of mis-information, disinformation, fake news, scams, etc. (aka - lies or falsehood) is prevalent. We are wanting desperately to know the truth, and all the while we could at any time find it in the pages of the Bible. If that weren't enough, God's Word is trustworthy. What He has promised, He will carry out completely! We long for this kind of friend, political figure, business partner, or you name it to follow through consistently with commitments they have made. God will always make good on what He has said, and that without fail! So, it is that the Lord has written down his promises, and now it is up to us to find them and find peace in knowing and receiving them (some promises are unconditional, but many are conditioned on obedience to His Word).
What will you do with the Bible? It is readily available. I beg of you not to ignore it or neglect it. Get it off the shelf or table and into your heart and life!!
