Focus!

Psalm 101:6 Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: He that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me.

Role models abound today, wrong ones! We need more positive role models that will characterize godliness and righteousness (Phil. 3:17-18). Those that humbly live out a life consistent with gospel message they say they believe (Phil. 1:27). It is vital that the life and lip are in perfect synchronization. I am not talking about perfection, but a genuineness and separateness that clearly distinguishes one as a Christ-follower (Phil. 1:9-11). An “in the world, but not of the world” mentality and actuality displayed with a determination and utmost devotion to Christ Jesus as Lord is sorely needed (John 17:15-17).

What defines a faithful person? A speech characterized by love, cleanliness, and praiseworthiness. A way of life that promotes a pursuit of purity in viewing, listening and actions. A person that will not be seen in a compromising situation or known to frequent places that would be seen as questionable (Phil. 4:8; 1 Tim. 4:12; 1 Thess. 5:21-23).

This type of living and following of those that live in such a way will inevitably mean that we at times stand virtually alone.  For sure, it means that we are in the minority. The pressures will be great to succumb to or remain in the worldly activity and mentality. Are we willing to suffer rejection, reproach, and loneliness for the sake of Christ who suffered all of these for the joy that was set before Him?

2 Timothy 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
