Are you pondering the path of your feet? Where are you walking, in whose ways, and how consistently? I encourage you to walk in the light of God’s Word and will. If you seek to do so, you will have true loving fellowship with other believers in Christ and with Christ himself while reaping the benefits of the continual effects of the cleansing by His blood for your sanctification (1 John 1:5, 7). To live a life that is dependent upon Christ and free from sin brings peace and joy that no one can fully express. When sin seeks to lead us astray we have a faithful and just one who receives our confession and brings full restoration of sweet communion (1 John 1:9). We can come to Christ with our sin with no shame knowing that he bore our shame upon the cross and is now our advocate and friend (1 John 2:1). He is a friend that sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24). We really have no one that compares to Jesus as a loyal companion.
Therefore, as we come to know more of Christ it will naturally become our desire to please him who has chosen us. He has chosen out of this world of sin to no longer walk in the darkness. In the darkness we experienced blindness that caused us to stumble (1 John 2:11). Now we have the entrance of God’s Word that gives light (Psalm 119:130), and allows us to see clearly the ways of the Lord, ways of safety (Proverbs 3:23). So we must take the Word as a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path and keep it ever before us (Psalm 119:105). As we love God, walking in His ways becomes our delight and lifts burdens that would otherwise weigh us down (1 John 5:3). The light of God’s word issues forth into a genuinely pleasant life (Proverbs 6:23, Psalm 36:9). He wants what is best for us and knows what is best for us. We can trust Him and His Word that purity of life is the most excellent path!
Ephesians 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
