The Bible is truly the “Book of books”. Sometimes we attach the word “Holy” to describe the Bible. This indicates that the Bible is a Divine Book. We are actually reading a perfect Book that bears the characteristics of the author, God himself. In fact, we also refer to the Bible as the "Scriptures" because it is the very written words of God to mankind (2 Timothy 3:16).

God has revealed to us in the pages of Scripture, or his written words contained in the 66 books (39 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament)  everything He intended for mankind to know about the origins of the earth (creation), the origin of sin (the fall of man), the plan for man’s redemption from sin (the gospel of Christ), all the way to the completion of God’s plan for mankind and the earth (the judgments and restoration).  In the pages of the Bible we can find truth, for God is truth and only tells the truth. There is no need to look outside of the Bible for answers to this life, the life that is to come, and what God expects of us because the Word of Truth is completed, and we can hold it in our hands (1 Corinthians 13:10).

Therefore, pick up the Book, look into the Book, read the Book, study the Book, think about the message of the Book, accept the message of the Book, share the message of the Book. Carefully handle the Bible, for its author has one intended meaning that has been clearly given. The truth of God is plainly stated in its pages. Thus, don’t look for any hidden meanings, but rather just follow how God has laid out His message (2 Timothy 2:15).

We have no excuses in this day and age for neglecting the Bible. The ready accessibility of the Bible makes it so easy to hear from God through the pages of His Word. Come to enjoy this good gift that God has so graciously imparted to us!

James 1:22 & 25 22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
