Keep Praying Part 7

When our backs are against the wall or we are cornered, and our only resort is to call upon the Lord, that is exactly where God wants us. God never intended for us to act independently of Him. Just because life seems out of control does not mean it is so. Just because it seems life and all that attends to living in this present evil world will crush us does not mean it is so. God has not left the scene or forgotten His own. Reliance on Him will yield the peace we so desire.
  We can receive an infusion of courage from Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah during a time of overwhelming odds in battle. Ammon and Moab, enemies of Israel, had gathered a combined force that struck fear in the heart of the King of Judah. With nowhere else to turn, all of Judah, led by Jehoshaphat, set out to seek the LORD with all sincerity of heart. The fear of the enemy further united their hearts in prayer to the only hope they had of help (2 Chronicles 20:3-4). Together they publicly made their requests known unto God. They all set aside their own reasonings or any other thought of how they might overcome the enemy.
  They sought assurance from the Scriptures that their Lord would hear the cry they made to Him and offer all the help they needed (2 Chronicles 20:9). For they prayed in accord with 2 Chronicles 6:28-30, that says,
. . .  if their enemies besiege them in the cities of their land; whatsoever sore or whatsoever sickness there be: 29 Then what prayer or what supplication soever shall be made of any man, or of all thy people Israel, when every one shall know his own sore and his own grief, and shall spread forth his hands in this house: 30 Then hear thou from heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and render unto every man according unto all his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou only knowest the hearts of the children of men:)
  Furthermore, Judah stood still and awaited the salvation of the LORD. Their eyes were riveted upon the LORD. They were intently looking for His help to come.
O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee. 2 Chronicles 20:12
  The LORD did not let His people down but sent them word of the coming of His quick and complete help. He alone would gain the glory, for by His powerful hand He would gain the victory over the enemy without the need for Judah to lift a finger. While they awaited with great anticipation the answer to their prayer for help that was squarely founded on God’s promises, they worshiped and praised the Lord in song, even before God worked. Oh yes and work He did!
