The Love of God is . . .
Always seeking the bests interests of another person. It means sacrificing your own needs to meet the needs of someone else. Jesus thought more of the Samaritan woman’s needs than maintaining the cultural norms and preserving his image. Her soul and the souls of those of the city of Sychar was driven by a pure and untarnished love (John 4:1-42).
Never attacking people but always addressing the problem of wrongdoing. Jesus confronted the Pharisees and Sadducees when they taught things contrary to God’s Word, yet he took time to answer their questions with a hope of leading them to the truth. His love was noticeable in His patience (Matthew 22:16-40).
Very gentle and makes His invitation to draw near to Him even more reassuring. He did not ignore or send the blind men away that cried after Him, “have mercy on us, thou Son of David”, nor did He chide the woman that touched the hem of His garment (Mark 5:24-34; Matthew 20:30-34). He welcomed the little children, spoke peaceably to Mary and Martha in their time of grief, and did not condemn the woman caught in adultery neither did He condone her sinful actions (Matthew 18:1-6; John 11:1-45; John 8:1-11).
Thinking the best of another person. It is full of forgiveness and forbearance. Thus, it does not keep track of wrongs in order to throw them in the face of someone at a later date. Jesus did not hold a grudge against Judas, Pilate, the Religious Elite of the day. He called Judas His friend in the midst of betrayal, and prayed that the Father would forgive the others for they were unaware of the extent of their wrongdoing (Matthew 26:50; Luke 23:33-34).
. . . Greater Far Than Tongue or Pen Could Ever Tell!
