What does it mean to have a friend that sticks closer than a brother?<br><br>Brothers will often help out in a pinch. They are ones you can call on when the going gets tough, but respect of their time and space is necessary for maintaining good relations. A friend, on the other hand, can be approached whenever and in whatever circumstances of life without respect to their personal needs. They expect to hear of your joys as well as of your disappointments. They desire to join in the laughter and to experience the tears. They truly love at all times (Prov. 17:17).<br><br>Brothers are great at getting behind you and pushing you, yet a friend is one-of-a-kind in that they come alongside you. A true friend never drags you into anything that would harm you or push you into something that they would never do. They seek your best and desire to participate with you in achieving your goals, even to the extent of sacrificing their own ambitions, likes, or goals. Your pursuits become their own. Their closeness is truly worthwhile (Prov. 27:17).<br><br>Brothers are good for casually listening and superficially advising, but a friend wants to know all and for you to bear your soul and share all your otherwise kept secrets. A good and godly friend will be fully trusted to keep your confidence (Prov. 17:9). Furthermore, the advice of a friend comes from someone who knows all about you and still loves you. The friend will not hold back what you need to hear because they truly care (Prov. 27:6,9).<br><br>For all those who have come to accept Christ, He has become the closest of friends and that forever! In John 15:13 Jesus says, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down His life for his friends”. His demonstration of friendship surpasses all.</div></div></div></div></div></section>]]></content:encoded>

O to stand before the Lord and be awarded crowns which our hands will grasp so that we may cast them down before the throne in magnificent worship throughout eternity.<br>Revelation 4:10 The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne . . .<br><br>&nbsp; With new bodies we will never experience anymore decay, deformity, disease or death. It will be a body used in every regard to perform only our Lord’s will forever and always.<br>Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.<br><br>&nbsp; Then, just think of new mouths with which to indulge in all the delectable fruit. The Lord Jesus freely gave His life as one accused of wrong, yet He was just (“no fault was found in Him”) because “He knew no sin” and “did no sin”(John 19:4, 6; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 2:22). His death was for the wrongs we (each one of us, none excluded) have committed against a Holy God (Romans 3:10). Jesus was slandered for us, shamed for us, suffered for us, and sacrificed His very life for us. He “bare our sins in His own body on the tree (cross)”, was “bruised for our iniquities (sins)”, and beaten beyond recognition for us (1 Peter 2:24).<br><br>Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: The chastisement of our peace was upon him; And with his stripes we are healed.<br><br>&nbsp; All the enduring of the wrath of God that we deserve was poured out upon Jesus during a three-hour period while He writhed in agony upon the cross to which He was nailed (Matthew 27:35, 45-46). The Lord Jesus’ sacrifice became the propitiation (complete satisfaction) necessary for our sin (1 John 4:10). There in that time-frame Jesus’ blood became the only ransom price worthy to make full payment for our sin. Thus, affording us eternal redemption (making us completely free) from our sin through His shed blood. The offer of remission (forgiveness) of our sin is now made possible and fully available because of Christ’s death on the cross. &nbsp;<br><br>Hebrews 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.<br><br>&nbsp; How can anyone obtain the forgiveness of their sin and freedom from their sin with its attached penalty of eternal condemnation and punishment? FAITH is the operative word, that which will always bring the desired result (Romans 4:24-25). In fact, faith in Christ and in Christ’s finished work for you on the cross is the only thing that can and will save your soul from separation from God in an eternal hell (Acts 4:12). Christ in His death, and no one else and nothing else, can save (deliver you from your sin and sin’s guilty sentence). Your faith is not displaced if it is found in Christ because it is noted in the Scriptures that He is risen, alive forevermore, and offers you not just freedom and forgiveness from your sin, but eternal life in Him and with Him. Therefore, to believe in Christ will never disappoint! &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;<br><br>For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. Therefore, the two components are inextricably linked together. You must genuinely live a Christian life before those you intend to reach with the gospel before they will ever give audience to the message of Christ’s gospel you proclaim. They must see Christ in you, and yet, it is imperative that they hear of Christ from you if they are ever to be saved. So, let me say it this way, neither of these aspects (life or lip) of our testimony are more important than the other since they are both necessary and inseparable parts to an effective witness for Christ.<br><br>&nbsp; 1 Peter 3:15 couples these two thoughts together when it says, “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.” When our hearts are right before the Lord, then our conduct will follow accordingly. Living lives consistent with the gospel of grace that we preach which has resulted in our cleansing from sin will make it much easier to tell others of the difference Christ can make in their lives. In addition, the Spirit of God will have freedom to empower us to express the gospel of Christ boldly. It is so good of God to save us, and by means of the Spirit that now dwells within us to obediently live so that others will clearly see and clearly hear the good news of Jesus Christ! Thus, the fulfillment of “. . . and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” as spoken by our Lord in Matthew 28:20b.<br><br>But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. We certainly do need each other of the “household of faith”. As a spiritual family we have our own individual personalities and preferences that could clash if it were not for the Spirit of God that unifies us without making us all uniform. The Holy Spirit produces a loving bond between each of us as brothers and sisters in Christ that makes church life enjoyable and enduring. That is why coming together each week, and multiple times in a week, is not a chore but filled with joyful anticipation. The preaching of God’s Word, praising of God for His goodness, praying to God for other’s needs, and sharing what God has given and done for us in abundance should bring a smile to our face and delight to our souls.<br><br>&nbsp; So, it is our privilege to come along side other believers who are overburdened with the cares of this life and help in lifting the load (Galatians 6:2). This often takes the form of praying one for another (James 5:16), or to “by love serve one another” as we look out for each other’s needs above our own needs (Gal. 5:13-14). Also, it is our duty to “speak the truth in love” in order to help each other to be built up in the faith (Ephesians 4:11-16). To ensure that we are all moving in the right direction and walking in truth, it will take warning one another daily about the deceitfulness of sin (Hebrews 3:12-13). In addition, it will mean regularly interacting with the family members of the church, so we really get to know them and become a catalyst in promoting “love and good works” with a constant cheering each other on and cheering each other up (Heb. 10:24-25). The continual reminder of our Savior’s return is a comfort to our hearts and minds to press on in this race of faith (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18). It will be worth it all when we see Jesus!<br><br>God will bless our persevering in faithfulness to His plan of preserving relationships within His Church!<br><br>Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. &nbsp; &nbsp;1 John 4:11<br><br></div></div></div></div></div></section>]]></content:encoded>

We will not delight in sin, dabble in sin, or defend our sin. There will not be consistent sinful thought patterns and sinful habits in our life that we will allow to go unchecked and unconfessed (Proverbs 28:13). Our desire will gravitate toward a holy lifestyle, and our words and actions will follow suit as we yield to the Holy Spirit within (Romans 8:1-2).<br><br>&nbsp; So, the key is not perfection but progress. Children of God will readily admit that sin is present in our lives and not make excuses when we sin. As 1 John 1:10 says, “If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.” Therefore, we will seek the continued and constant advocacy of our Lord Jesus Christ (1 John 2:1). As saints of God right now, we are ever striving to become saintly in our everyday lives. God is working in us so that we can be what we are in Christ. “Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God” (2 Corinthians 7:1). “For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness” (1 Thess. 4:7).<br><br>&nbsp; It is not of God for us to “continue in sin that grace may abound” (Romans 6:1-2). If we are genuinely saved, we are dead to sin and alive to God. We are free to live for God (Rom. 6:7)! Therefore, we must examine ourselves to see if we are in the faith. Consider 1 Corinthians 6:9–10 as it clearly says, “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? If you have ever given a bottle to a little baby, then you have experienced an intense cry of great disapproval when the milk is taken away (1 Peter 2:2). Is our hunger for God's truth strong and the appetite never quite fully satisfied? We must acquire a desire that always longs to know more of our Lord and His ways, accompanied by a yearning to exercise our faith. Let's move from milk to meat as we mature in Christ so we can teach other's God's ways while demonstrating a life of discernment (Hebrews 5:11-14).<br><br>&nbsp; Job said that he "Neither [had] gone back from the commandment of his (God's) lips; [he had] esteemed the words of his (God's) mouth more than [his] necessary food" (Job 23:12). Job had not only taken in the Word but had processed it to the point of gaining all the proper nourishment from it. Other thoughts and philosophies did not have an appeal like God's words did. Job did not settle for something less than the best. For him it was just as the Savior said, "man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of his mouth" (Matthew 4:4 from Deut. 8:3). Only God's word can sustain and strengthen us for the souls needs. It gives the needed wisdom and direction for our lives.<br><br>&nbsp; The Psalmist oftentimes delights in the sweetness of the Word of God as he compares it to honey. Such as in Psalm 19:10 where it is declared to be "Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb." Also, in Psalm 119:103 the Lord's Word is exclaimed to be delectable with it said, "How sweet are thy words unto my taste! Yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!" God's Word will never disappoint!<br><br>Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O Lord God of hosts. Psalm 147:3–5<br><br>&nbsp; Our God is capable of protecting His own. There is abundant peace that He supplies. We can always depend upon His precious promises. What He says, He will do, without fail! Why are things so hard?<br><br>&nbsp; The quick and easy answer is to understand and keep it in mind that we live in a sin-cursed world. We are imperfect and that everything around us has been affected by the fall of mankind. From the little thorny stickers that attach themselves to your clothing as you are just on a leisurely walk to the unknown predator that stalks you with the intention of taking away what is rightfully yours to enjoy, we experience the hardships that remain a troublesome situation because of a rebellious heart against God. Genesis 3:18–19 says, Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; 19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.<br><br>&nbsp; Then, there is the truth that if life were without hardships, the tendency of our sinful hearts would be to forget God. So, with the difficulties that arise, we must not swing the pendulum to blame our God. Instead, let us seek Him and His great wisdom and grace moment by moment in our lives - lives that are too much for us to face alone or on our own. Deuteronomy 8:12–14 &nbsp;Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein; 13 And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied; 14 Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the Lord thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;<br><br>&nbsp; The bottom line comes down to the fact that we will never know all the whys and the wherefores of life. That is the very reason we must walk by faith in the One who does know and does care deeply for us. He is working all things out for good. He is bringing honor and glory unto himself through the hardships that we face. If we can trust the Lord with our eternity, we can certainly trust Him with our now! Their curiosity is unmatched along with a willingness to accept the truth of God’s Word readily! It is no wonder that the Lord Jesus welcomed little children to come unto Him while saying that to enter the Kingdom of Heaven one must become like them and be converted (Matthew 19:14; 18:3).<br><br>&nbsp; Therefore, it is a worthwhile endeavor to pour ourselves into the little ones. May God raise up a host of children that would give themselves to Christ and His service. So, on the heels of VBS we are getting ready to start Explorers Club. Pray! Pray! And Pray some more for the children! Also, pray for the church workers, and please don’t forget the parents (the home is vital). The imparting of the truth of God’s love and the need of loving God wholeheartedly as taught at church can be greatly enhanced through bringing the children up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord in the home (1 John 4:11; Ephesians 6:4).<br><br>&nbsp; Interestingly, on the first night of VBS, I met a family who had a boy by the name of Josiah. I commented on what an excellent Bible name had been given to him. Then, I proceeded to ask if they knew the biblical account of Josiah coming to reign as King when he was only 8 years old (2 Kings 22:1-2). Next, I made the point of encouraging this young man to follow and serve the Lord in his youth. God is interested in using our youth today, and many of them are interested in being used of God. May God cultivate a generation whose hearts are captivated by knowing Him and serving Him (Psalm 119:1-5).<br><br>Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them; Ecclesiastes 12:1<br><br></div></div></div></div></div></section>]]></content:encoded>

The Lord Jesus has cared for the needs of His own and has made every provision to care for the continuing needs of those within the confines of the church.<br><br>John 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.<br>Acts 20:28 &nbsp;Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.<br><br>&nbsp; Our Savior sustains each one of us as His sheep through the preparation of spiritual food for development in following Him wholeheartedly. Feeding on the Word for ourselves and being fed the Word in His church ensures strength in the knowledge of Christ and His paths of righteousness.<br>Hebrews 5:12–14 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. 13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.<br><br>You are always under His watchful eye! The church can only function in accord with Christ as its Head when each part is corporately using its giftedness to encourage, build up, and provide for the advancement of the gospel.<br><br>&nbsp; 1 Corinthians 12:12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.<br>Our Lord Jesus Christ is the authority and determines the parameters of our fellowship and frequency. Coming together for preaching, teaching and prayer are non-negotiables for the body. A body that is dismembered is ineffective and greatly impaired. &nbsp;<br><br>&nbsp; Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.<br>We cannot live out our Christian existence without the church (people of God) that He has bought and established under His guidance and for His purposes. Within the confines of our gathering together, there is a clear and undeniable expression of love for Christ and His people that is known to all.<br><br>1 John 5:1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.<br>John 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.<br><br></div></div></div></div></div></section>]]></content:encoded>

Then, He continues to uphold all things by the word of His power. Isaiah puts it this way, "Lift up your eyes on high, And behold who hath created these things, That bringeth out their host by number: He calleth them all by names By the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; Not one faileth" (Isaiah 40:26).&nbsp;<br><br>&nbsp; Revealed in the control He wields over the nations. There is no power on earth, but that is allowed by God to operate (Romans 13:1). God holds the very heart of the highest rulers of the nations in His hand and directs the affairs as He deems best for His ultimate purposes (Proverbs 21:1). Daniel says of his God's might, "... He removeth kings, and setteth up kings.." (Daniel 2:21). The strength of God over the nations is emphasized by contrasting His greatness and the nations smallness in Isaiah 40 when referring to the nations as simply a "drop of the bucket" in His sight (Isaiah 40:15).<br><br>&nbsp; Intimated through redemption's plan by way of His only Son. Ephesians 1:6-7 highlights God's orchestration of the Son's payment for sin as it exclaims, "To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace." The cross as the instrument of death and seeming weakness became the source of ultimate victory as Christ triumphed over Satan's desire to hold mankind captive. Paul puts it this way, "And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it [His cross]" (Colossians 2:15). His death in our place was the only acceptable sacrifice to result in life for all who will claim Christ as their own by faith. Truly, "we preach Christ crucified... unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God..." (1 Corinthians 1:23-24).<br><br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; . . . Jesus confronted the Pharisees and Sadducees when they taught things contrary to God’s Word, yet he took time to answer their questions with a hope of leading them to the truth. His love was noticeable in His patience (Matthew 22:16-40).<br><br>&nbsp; Very gentle and makes His invitation to draw near to Him even more reassuring. He did not ignore or send the blind men away that cried after Him, “have mercy on us, thou Son of David”, nor did He chide the woman that touched the hem of His garment (Mark 5:24-34; Matthew 20:30-34). He welcomed the little children, spoke peaceably to Mary and Martha in their time of grief, and did not condemn the woman caught in adultery neither did He condone her sinful actions (Matthew 18:1-6; John 11:1-45; John 8:1-11).<br><br>&nbsp; &nbsp;Thinking the best of another person. It is full of forgiveness and forbearance. Thus, it does not keep track of wrongs in order to throw them in the face of someone at a later date. Jesus did not hold a grudge against Judas, Pilate, the Religious Elite of the day. He called Judas His friend in the midst of betrayal, and prayed that the Father would forgive the others for they were unaware of the extent of their wrongdoing (Matthew 26:50; Luke 23:33-34).<br><br>. . . I know the word “transparency” is overused these days, but it would bode well if we would apply it to our discussions. Integrity should define our speech and openness is beneficial for warning, encouraging, or instructing a brother or sister in Christ. Proverbs 25:11 says, “A word fitly spoken Is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.” Pick your time and words wisely, but do not fail to express what others need to hear in the right way.<br>&nbsp;<br>&nbsp; Thus, what are some appropriate ways to give clear and helpful expression to our thoughts? “Grace” softens our words and smooths out the obstacles (Colossians 4:6). Humbly listening and then speaking while “putting yourself in the other’s persons shoes” will go a long way to advancing God’s agenda. God also says in the prior verse that our speech should be “with salt”. This is not the idea of pouring salt in some wound. We should not bring up old hurts. Rather, this is using tasteful words. Words that defuse any possible conflict and welcome proper responses. For instance, readily expressing sympathy with an “I’m sorry”, giving a genuine “I understand what you are saying”, or kindly asking for something to be repeated or clarified. We all must be careful not to make assumptions while seeking to communicate, for oftentimes they are wrong. Ephesians 4:29 says, “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.” Stinging or biting words will be destructive and hurtful. It is sometimes hard not to accuse someone in our communication or use words that will put someone down. May God help us to carefully select our words or quickly correct course when we see things going “off the rails”.<br>&nbsp;<br>&nbsp; Lastly, to whom should we speak if there seems to be a grievance with another person. The first person that should hear from us is the very person with whom we have an issue. Most matters can be resolved at this level and in this way. If indeed everything is reconciled, then the next key to maintaining healthy communication is never to bring it up with that person again, and especially not to bring it up to another person. Matthew 18:15 is clear “Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.”<br>&nbsp;<br>Proverbs 10:20a &amp; 31a “The tongue of the just is as choice silver . . . 31 The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom . . .”</div></div></div></div></div></section>]]></content:encoded>

In other words, communication does not happen naturally or easily. It is an art that takes lots of work and practice. Often, I find myself in a world of hurt because I failed to communicate, or something was sorely lacking in my communication. If you are like me, sometimes it seems futile to try to express myself since the labor I have put into it often falls flat. May the Lord help us not to give up in trying to master the art of communication. He can assist us with expressing ourselves with right words, at the right time and in the right way. He has given us guidelines to help within the pages of the Bible that will aid us when patience is running thin, or when weariness is setting in. No one frames their words perfectly, so let’s have some forbearance with one another, and think the best of each other in this demanding and often frustrating process, called communication, of which we cannot and dare not do without. &nbsp;<br><br>&nbsp; I am so thankful that many people have shown me grace when I have not communicated with them (most of the time unintentionally). You have been there, right? You spoke with someone about a particular topic of discussion and thought that it was communicated with others as well, but you came to find out that you only thought that you talked with everyone about the topic. In this day of so many means of communication, we often find ourselves missing out on texts, emails, etcetera, ad infinitum, ad nauseum because we either used the wrong platform for communication, someone was not on the list, the message went to the spam/junk folder, or a myriad of other scenarios by which communication fell through the cracks. Please remember that we are to forgive others not just 7 times, but 70 times 7 times (Matthew 18:21-22)!! &nbsp;<br><br>&nbsp; Timing is crucial in making sure of proper communication. I am not just talking about the exact time of speaking with someone (although when a person is tired is not a good time to discuss things). We must also take into account how early we make something known. Often, we speak hastily, without forethought, and in the heat of the moment. It could very well be that a person is not ready to listen to our communication, or they may hear it in a convoluted way because emotions are clouding their thinking. “Let not the sun go down upon your wrath” in the context of “speaking truth” as Ephesians 4:25 and 26 means for us to as soon as possible to resolve a matter, but not to jump into a conversation with someone too soon before the truth can clearly be expressed in love (Ephesians 4:15).<br>&nbsp;<br>Proverbs 29:20 Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? How does she stand out among the crowd of the ladies that surround her? Is it possible for a woman of today to rise to the top and equal this high and lofty ideal of a mother? I believe each woman carries a capacity by God’s Spirit and grace to rival the Proverbs 31 woman. Possibly, these attributes will be expressed to a greater or lesser degree in the lives of each mother, but this should not restrict one from continually striving to exhibit the utmost love and care in the home. Mothers have great sway in the hearts and lives of their children. Mothers, you are needed, and even, desired by your children. Don’t abdicate your role or despise it as insignificant.<br><br>&nbsp; Let us consider this priceless gift of a mother as depicted in Proverbs 31. Her industriousness is evident as “She seeketh wool, and flax, And worketh willingly with her hands. She is like the merchants’ ships; She bringeth her food from afar” (vv. 13-14). A mother’s tirelessness in serving others is represented in that “She riseth also while it is yet night, And giveth meat to her household, And a portion to her maidens” (v.15). There is an entrepreneurial bent when “She considereth a field, and buyeth it: With the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. She girdeth her loins with strength, And strengtheneth her arms” (vv.16-17). Her example of generousness defines her as “She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: Her candle goeth not out by night. She layeth her hands to the spindle, And her hands hold the distaff. She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; Yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy” (vv. 18-20). Finally,<br>“Strength and honour are her clothing; And she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; And in her tongue is the law of kindness,” leaving an impression of immense approachableness (vv.25-26). The end result is that “Her children arise up, and call her blessed . . . &nbsp;because “a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised” (vv. 28a, 30b).<br><br>A Mother’s loving and caring example is immeasurable!<br><br></div></div></div></div></div></section>]]></content:encoded>

The beauty of the green grass, filled out tress with their various foliage, numerous flowers blooming in vivid colors, all accompanied by cooler days and light breezes. There is a vibrancy and newness that is exhilarating. The Creator God’s glory is so clearly evidenced in His marvelous works. His care and concern for the smallest of details, gives us a sure indication that He will take care of us (Matthew 10:29-31). He has provided for our renewal and continues to nurture us for growth and beauty (2 Corinthians 5:17, Ephesians 5::27). He makes all things beautiful in its time (Ecclesiastes 3:11).<br><br>&nbsp;What are some of the areas that the Lord is seeking to cultivate in our lives?<br><br>&nbsp; 1. Fruitfulness in our witness<br>&nbsp; This includes having a clear and convincing testimony that is consistent with the gospel &nbsp; &nbsp; <br>&nbsp; we preach (a gospel that declares freedom from sin).<br>&nbsp; 2 Timothy 2:19 . . . &nbsp;And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.<br><br>&nbsp; 2. Faithfulness in our worship<br>&nbsp; Whatever we value, we spend time indulging in it. Making time for God and His plan for &nbsp; <br>&nbsp; growing in the knowledge of Him will reap great dividends.<br>&nbsp; John 4:23–24 . . . the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for &nbsp; <br>&nbsp; the Father seeketh such to worship him.<br><br>&nbsp; 3. Fulness in our giving<br>&nbsp; The blessings of giving for ourselves is equal to if not greater than the impact it makes on <br>&nbsp; others through ministry of the church.<br>&nbsp; Acts 20:35 . . . &nbsp;remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to <br>&nbsp; give than to receive.<br><br>&nbsp; 4. Freeness in our service<br>&nbsp; Each one in the church has been given a gift by the Spirit of God, and there is great joy <br>&nbsp; that comes in gladly using it.<br>&nbsp; Galatians 5:13 . . . by love serve one another.<br><br>&nbsp; 5. Friendliness in our fellowship<br>&nbsp; There is nothing like a face to face encounter with others of like faith and practice. Seeing <br>&nbsp; a smile, receiving a reassuring look, or gaining a glance of sympathy is worthwhile.<br>&nbsp; 3 John 14 . . . we shall speak face to face. Peace be to thee. . . . The true competitors in this race, expend a lot of time preparing to give everything they have to seek the coveted first place finish (hopefully in record time) and prize of $150,000. Nothing will do, but their best for such an historic race and world renown race.<br>&nbsp; How are we doing in running the race of faith? What will it take to gain the prize? The prize in the race of faith is far greater than any earthly trophy or monetary reward.<br>&nbsp; First, it will take a tremendous amount of focus. Undivided focus upon our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He is the pacesetter. He is the course setter. As Hebrews 12:2 says,<br>“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith”. &nbsp;Also, keeping in mind the goal or the destination will spur us on when the going gets tough. Colossians 3:2 urges us to “set [our] affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” Being heavenly minded will keep us mentally sharp. Secondly, an inordinate amount of discipline must be carried out. One’s restraint will be tested and the keeping of a consistent regimen will be constantly assaulted, yet “I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway” (1 Corinthians 9:27). The writer of Hebrews chimes in by saying in chapter 12 and verse 1, “let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us”. Curbing our appetites is essential while staying on course with good habits is of utmost necessity. Finally, it will take some good ol’ fashion grit to endure the pain of running with all we have, while facing “the elements” of this life. The “climbs” will be steep, the “way” will be fraught with obstacles, and the “air” will become irregular at times, causing breathing to become increasingly hard. We must carry on without panicking, relying on Christ’s strength to rule the day (Philippians 4:13)! Stress and strain are part and parcel to the task. Never give up as you do what is right!<br><br></div></div></div></div></div></section>]]></content:encoded>

What is the big deal about Christ’s resurrection? – what does it mean for you, for me?<br>&nbsp; If the Christ is not risen, then the Scriptures concerning the Messiah have not been fulfilled. The many Scripture references, so obviously speaking to and fulfilled by the historical Jesus of Nazareth have a huge, and dark cloud of doubt cast over them, if Christ is not risen from the dead. In other words, we cannot trust the Scriptures to be of God, and our basis for faith is flawed and irreparably compromised (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Furthermore, Jesus Christ is a fake, a charlatan, if He is not “risen as He said” (Matthew 28:6). All the words of Christ are in question. The character of Christ as a sinner just like you and me would be established, if He remained among the dead, and all hope of salvation from our sin is gone (1 Corinthians 15:14-19). We are, in fact, guaranteed no life after this one (1 Corinthians 15:32b).<br>&nbsp; But the gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ, is substantiated with many infallible proofs (Acts 1:1-3). Not only was Christ seen of the twelve, but above 500 at one time viewed and heard the risen Lord (1 Corinthians 15:5-8)! Christ was indeed flesh and bone, and remains the man, Christ Jesus, in a glorified body (Luke 24:36-40; 2 Timothy 2:5). They all were able to touch him and testified, even unto the death, that Christ had risen from the dead (1 John 1:1-3; 1 Corinthians 15:30-32a). Because Christ lives, sin and death and hell have been conquered for us, and declare plainly that He was just &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;(1 Corinthians 15:54-57; 1 Peter 3:18). Because Christ lives, we as believers in His death, burial and resurrection shall live with Him and be like Him (1 Corinthians 15:1-4, 51-53). The resurrection of Christ gives us boldness and confidence of the life that now is, and that which is hereafter (1 Corinthians 15:58).<br><br></div></div></div></div></div></section>]]></content:encoded>

I am not approaching this as pessimist, but truly as a Biblicist. We live in a “present evil world” (Gal. 1:4); where we are hated and persecuted if we are genuine followers of Christ (2 Tim 3:12; Jn 15:18). The world cannot and will not accept nonconformists, for those that live a separated and pure life expose the darkness, shamefulness, and lostness of the world’s existence (Jn. 3:19-20). Just when you think that nothing could shock the senses of us as believers, the world promotes something worse that is so sordid, grotesque and debased (2 Tim. 3:13). These days and times are certainly perilous, and we dare not minimize the dangerous nature of this age in which we live (2 Tim 3:1-7). The world’s allurement has begun to deeply appeal, more and more, to those of the church, and has drawn many away from the truthfulness of the Scriptures and practice of the faith (1 Tim. 4:1-3). Large numbers have no ear to hear God’s Word, nor follow God’s truth. The world’s philosophies are ingrained upon hearts and minds to the extent that they are accepted and defended as a better alternative that God’s ways, for they sound so good and appeal to the fleshly desires (2 Tim. 4:3-4). &nbsp;The question arises, “if the foundation are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3).<br><br>&nbsp; The righteous must deepen their love for God by renewing their minds daily through the Word of God (Romans 12:2). Only then can we fortify our hearts against a love for the world and its destructive force (1 Jn. 2:14-18). It is clear that we become like the company that we keep (1 Cor. 15:34). Therefore, separation from worldly influences is essential. &nbsp;Discard and replace some of the reading, listening, and viewing habits. Also, make new and godly friends, while disassociating with those that would tear you down rather than build you up in the faith. Stop going down the same ole path, to the same ole places. Then, you must pray so that you do not fall into temptation (Matt. 26:41; 5:13).<br><br></div></div></div></div></div></section>]]></content:encoded>

What do we consider when we stop to think on our God? The man Moses had to come to terms with just how great His God was in all of His perfections. Then and only then could Moses move forward in faith with his unbelief assuaged. God worked with Moses to embolden his faith in the truth that He would always be present, there was nothing unknown to Him, and His hand was not shortened that it could not save (Isaiah 50:2; 59:1).<br><br>&nbsp; Moses had come to think too much of himself and not enough of His God. This is evident in Exodus 3:11, when upon God’s intentions to send Moses back to Egypt as an instrument to perform the deliverance of His people, Moses’ response is “Who am I”. This was not about Moses, but instead, completely about God’s continued presence among His people (Ex. 3:6-9), and His promise to be with Moses (Ex. 3:12).<br><br>&nbsp; In addition, Moses needed to trust that God was not “winging it” regarding this commission. Moses did not know what to say; so, did God have the answers that he would need (Ex. 3:13)? Yes indeed, the “I AM” was the answer! He alone has been and always would be as the one who knows the past and future just as He knows the present. With that declaration, as if it were not enough, God further assured Moses with the details of His plan and purpose (Ex. 3:15-22).<br><br>&nbsp; Then, still further, Moses’ next lack of faith expressed in “they will not believe me” as one who stumbles and bumbles (Ex. 4:1, 10), was met by God as He retorted with multiple evidences of His authority and might. It was an “I can’t” of Moses counteracted with an “I can” by his God! The rod, a robe, and the river would be ordinary means God would use to display a glimpse of His ability to deliver (Ex. 4:2, 6, 9). So, this ordinary man had to be convinced that he served an extraordinary God who had created Moses’ mouth, yet God in His grace would provide a companion in Aaron to bolster Moses’ faith in this time of doubts and fears (Ex. 4:10-15).<br><br>&nbsp; How precious is the compassion and patience of God to continue to instruct us in the knowledge of Him! &nbsp;<br><br></div></div></div></div></div></section>]]></content:encoded>

Romans 8:22–23 expresses our deep desire for that day of our redemption which is drawing ever closer when it says, "For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. 23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body."<br><br>&nbsp; Many of our hymns focus upon the coming of our Savior, and spur us on in our Laboring, Looking and Longing for that glorious day! So let us “labor for Master from the dawn ‘til setting sun, let us talk of all His wondrous love and care” (When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder). Also, “Listen for the trumpet, Jesus is coming, listen for the trumpet, look to the skies, no more sorrow, no more night, only God’s eternal light, Jesus is coming again” (Listen For the Trumpet). “What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see, when I look upon His face, the One who saved me by His grace” (What a Day, Glorious Day That Will Be), or “Face to face with Christ, my Savior, face to face what will it be? When with rapture I behold Him, Jesus Christ who died for me” (Face to Face).<br><br>Jesus is coming again!!<br><br></div></div></div></div></div></section>]]></content:encoded>
